Introduction to Music Composition

Aaron Liu-Rosenbaum, Assistant Professor of Music Technology at the University of Northern Colorado, will present an introduction to writing music. From classical to garage band music, techniques and skills will be shared for composing your own music. This event is for all skill levels; the ability to read music is not a prerequisite. Popular and open-source music writing programs will also be highlighted.

Come celebrate National Gaming Day at the library! We'll play board games, video games, listen to music and watch movies in the library after hours. Bring your favorite game or friend if you would like. Refreshments provided. Parents, please be at the library promptly at 10:00 pm to pick up your teen.

Do you need a welcoming place to study and relax after school? Then check out the Study Corner located in the teen area. We have computers, databases and print resources for all your homework needs.

Read On!

Interested in some free one-on-one reading assistance? Read On! is a reading assistance program designed specifically for area teens in middle school and high school. Drop in anytime between 3:30-5:30 pm for some free one-on-one reading assistance with a trained volunteer. Volunteers can also help you explore your reading tastes and connect you to some great reading material!

Meditation Class
4:30 pm, Thursdays
Jeannie Meyers from Re-laxation Unwind Meditation will lead a half hour meditation class each Thursday afternoon. Patrons are encouraged to take time off from their hectic week to relax, unwind and rejuvenate themselves.

High Plains Otaku Manga Book Club

Do you eat, live, and breathe manga? Do you love talking about manga with other "otaku" like yourself? Then join us the 1st Saturday of every month to share your favorite Manga series.

Let's Talk About It

Do you know of a classmate, friend, or acquaintance who might be struggling with depression or feeling suicidal? Such feelings are more common than you might think, especially among Colorado teens. If you would like to know how you can help become a community "gatekeeper," then join us for a QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) training, designed just for teens. The QPR training will be presented by Keith Wawrzyniak of Dynamic Family Design in partnership with Jenni Rocklage of Suicide Education Support Services. Please join us for this free training and help get the conversation started.

P.E.A.R.L.S.

What are P.E.A.R.L.S? They are teens who are: Precious, Empowered, Articulate, Resourceful, Loved and Supported--and they are you! Join us for this new support group addressing some of the many challenges of being a teen in today's world. Talk with other teens in a mutually supportive environment on a variety of teen-related topics.

Craft-ol-o-gy: Modern Alternative Craft for Teens

Alternative "alt" craft is very different than the crafting done in past decades. It's a no-holds-barred approach to creating works of contemporary art. Each month we will learn the process for a different technique. The craft for November is Industrial Post-Punk Macrame Bracelets. Participants will have the opportunity to practice while making something unique. Because of materials used, this program is open to patrons age 12 and older. This program meets the third Monday of each month.

Crafternoons: Tissue Paper Stained Glass (R)
