Welcome

A New Year, A New Chapter
2011 marks the High Plains Library District's 25th Anniversary. As we kick off A New Year and a New Chapter of service we are excited to invite you to an Open House celebration at Centennial Park Library (2227 23rd Ave., Greeley) on January 8, 2011, from 11am-4pm.

The Centennial Park Library, formerly the Weld County Library, was the first county library established in the State. The current Centennial Park building has undergone 2 additions/expansions and various renovations - the most recent being completed in December 2010.

With the demand for library service consistently increasing, and a library bursting at the seams, the High Plains Library District jumped at the opportunity to repurpose space for patron use in one of its busiest libraries. More space for you means we are able to better fulfill our mission of providing you with information, inspiration and entertainment.

After consolidating administrative staff into one location in February 2010, the Centennial Park Library gained an additional 9,000 square feet which was remodeled and repurposed for patrons. The new space allowed for the creation of a Computer Commons with a separate area for teaching classes, a two-sided fireplace, solar tubes to illuminate the main floor, three study rooms, an additional meeting room and book bins for the children's room. A new drive-up materials return makes it convenient for patrons to return items and for staff to more quickly get those items back on the shelf and in your hands.

The new space is brighter and more conducive to browsing items and enjoying them in the library. We hope you will be pleased. Please remember to stop by on Saturday, January 8, for the Open House.

Holiday Closings
Carbon Valley Regional, Centennial Park, Erie Community, Farr Regional, and Lincoln Park Libraries will be closing at 5 pm on December 31, and reopening on January 2, 2011.
