The American Dream Starts @ Our Library

High Plains Library District is excited to announce that it will be sponsoring two citizenship classes starting in January 2011 courtesy of The American Dream Starts @ your library grant funded by the American Library Association and the Dollar General Literacy Foundation. Each class is limited to 15 adult students. All students need to be lawful permanent residents and have a minimum of intermediate level English-language speaking skills. One class will be held Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6:00 - 8:30 at HPLD's Learning Plaza, 2448 1st Avenue (in the Dominic Apartment's Clubhouse) for six weeks starting January 10th. Candace Gonzales will teach the class and all instructional materials will be provided. The second class will be taught by Cindy Burkhart in Milliken, dates and times to be confirmed. The Adult Winter Reading Program is here!

The theme for the 2011 Adult Winter Reading Program is Read Outside the Box. From January 1 through February 28 you are invited to pick up a reading log at your local library or bookmobile and participate in the program. All you have to do is complete and return the reading log before February 28 to be entered into a drawing to win one of the following prizes: iPod Shuffle, a year membership to the Denver Art Museum, a copy of 1,001 Books You Must Read Before You Die and the Grand Prize - a Barnes and Noble NOOK.
