Preservation 2010: Recording Family Oral Histories

This workshop, presented by Georgia Wier, is an introduction to the meaning and
value of an oral history interview, including how it varies from other types of
interviews and how it can be useful for many purposes. She will provide an
explanation and demonstration of interview procedures, ideas for organizing the
interview, practice in techniques, discussion of use of recorders, and resources
available for further study.

Chautauqua performer Brian Fox Ellis brings America's literary treasure Edgar
Allan Poe to life! It's been said that Edgar Allan Poe (1809-1849) invented the
murder mystery. Widely known as a poet, Poe is also considered "father of the
macabre" and creator of the modern short story. Willis is an author,
storyteller, playwright and educator and has traveled the world telling stories.
This is sure to be a memorable evening.
