Ice Conclude Inaugural Season

FORT COLLINS, Colo. - The
Colorado Ice (6-10) fell 44-16
to the two-time
defending champion Sioux Falls
Storm (16-0) Saturday night at
Sioux Falls
Arena in the first round of
the United Indoor Football
Playoffs. Sioux
Falls will move on to face the
Billings Outlaws in the
Western Conference
Finals Saturday, July 28.
The Ice put up comparable
numbers, but couldn't convert
on offense. They
recorded 58 rushing yards
compared to the Storm's 68.
Quarterbacks Matt
Gutierrez and Brett Edwards
combined for 112 while
Terrance Bryant recorded
130. Each team pulled in an
interception, the only
turnovers of the game;
Rod Jackson and Mark Blackburn
credited with the picks. The
difference came
in the
conversions; Colorado was
3-of-12 on third down
conversions and
2-of-3 on fourth down. Sioux
Falls went 4-of-8 on third and
1-of-1 on
fourth.
Gutierrez was 12-of-25 for 77
yards and carried the ball six
times for 38
yards. Edwards finished
5-of-8 for 37 yards. Running
back Sean Ingram
rushed nine times for 19 yards
and the only touchdown, but
pulled in five
catches for 52 yards. Wide
receiver Mike Jones also
caught five for 24
yards while Marc Burr totaled
26 receiving yards. Sioux
Falls running back
Marques Smith carried the ball
12 times for 53 yards and the
only rushing
score. Bryant went 17-of-20
for 130 yards and three
scores, two to Leon
Hall and one to James Terry.
Yaussi finished 3-for-7 on
field goal attempts
and 1-of-1 on PATs.
Defensive back Dorsey
Golston led the defense with
nine
total tackles. Defensive
lineman Jeff Spletzer
totaled six tackles, two for
a loss. Brian McIntire led
the Storm with eight tackles
with Blackburn
close behind with seven.
The Western Conference
finals will be held July 28
followed by the United
Bowl on Aug. 4 for a match
up between the Eastern and
Western Conference
champions.

Palmer Named Defensive Rookie of the Year

FORT COLLINS, Colo. - Colorado
Ice linebacker, Ryan Palmer,
has been named
the United Indoor Football
League's Defensive Rookie of
the Year for the
2007 season. Palmer led the
first year Ice with 93 total
tackles (68 solo,
50 assisted). He also
contributed 1.5 sacks, two
interceptions, two pass
breakups, one quarterback
hurry, one forced fumble and
one fumble recovery.
Palmer played in all 15
regular season games as well
as the Western
Conference semi finals and
posted a game-high 14 total
tackles against Sioux
City on May 19.
